Congratulations to Yan Jiang for passing her preliminary exam!
CPES congratulates Yan Jiang, Ph.D. student, who passed her preliminary examination in November 2007. Yan has been working under the guidance of Prof. Fred C. Lee since 2002. Her dissertation topic is "A Study of Ultra Compact Electronic Ballast for Low Wattage HID Lamps."
Yan earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, in 1999 and 2002 respectively. After joining the Ph.D. program at CPES-VT, her research has been focused on "Design and implementation of a high-power-density Electronic ballast for low-wattage HID lamps," (2002~2003); and "Proposal, design and implementation of an ultra compact electronic ballast for HID lamps using advanced package and integration technology," (2003~present). Yan has published 7 conference papers, and is a co-inventor of a pending U.S. patent application entitled, "Discharge Lamp Lighting Control device." Her expected graduation is Summer 2008.
In her space time, Yan likes hiking, reading, watching movies, and gardening.
