CPES invited presentation @ APEC 2009

The 2009 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) will be held at The Marriott Wardman Park, Washington, D.C., February 15-19. CPES is honored to be invited to give one of the Special Presentations at APEC on the state of technology in the Special Session, "Current Topics in Power Electronics Research."

The CPES presentation, "Technology Survey and Trends for Integrated High Frequency DC-DC Converter," will be given on Thursday afternoon, February 19.

In view of the important issues facing our world today, and with the power electronics community gathering in Washington, D.C. this year for the "milestone" event, APEC 2009 is promoting awareness of the key role of power electronics in making global impact in terms energy independence and sustainable practices, according to Kevin Parmenter, General Chair of APEC 2009.

As Kevin recently expressed, "It is clear that the rising costs and instabilities of energy have increased the awareness of the importance of power electronics as an enabling technology to realizing the objectives and goals in these areas. We are fortunate that we are in the right technology and discipline with the right technologies at the right time. Power electronics is an essential part of optimizing not only diverse applications such as lighting, motor control, power conversion, battery chargers, induction heating and myriad other applications. The critical systems which will make a difference now and in the future all rely on power electronics as an enabler."

CPES has been a strong proponent in this respect, and is pleased to have the opportunity to share the Center's perspectives with conference participants at APEC 2009.
