CPES presents perspective on "Future Power Delivery Challenges and University Research"

CPES-VT has been invited by PSMA (Power Sources Manufacturers Association) Power Technology Team to give a perspective on "Future Power Delivery Challenges and University Research." The presentation, made via teleconference on Friday, September 5, 2008, will be shared online with CPES industry partners.

Over the past few years, CPES has dedicated efforts in technology roadmap development. In 2005 and 2006, two outreach workshops on Power Electronics Technology Roadmaps were organized by CPES, with NSF support and enthusiastic participation from global power electronics experts. These gatherings have proven to be valuable forums for brainstorming and exchange of ideas, and have helped to identify many application and technology areas critical to power electronics for the next 20-30 years.

Given the current environment and global focus on energy issues, a third CPES outreach workshop is being planned for October 2008, with invited participation from both academia and industry. The goal is to identify and discuss key power electronics technologies for sustainable energy systems. We hope that the workshop discussions will enable us to establish mechanisms to continue sharing ideas, visions, information, and data in these technology areas with academia counterparts and industry partners.
