ABB Corporate Research sponsors Principal Plus fellowship on "Drives Integration Technologies"

CPES Principal Plus Members are offered the added option to participate in the Center's Power Management Consortium (PMC) or sponsor a fellowship project to explore a research area of mutual interest. This relationship provides the opportunity to gain more tangible benefits via elevated research collaboration and direct interactions with the research team and designated fellowship recipients and corresponding faculty.

Taking advantage of this plan, ABB Corporate Research has chosen to sponsor a fellowship on "Drives Integration Technologies." The goal of the project is to explore innovative concepts to package passive devices for 3-phase AC motor drives, as illustrated above, to achieve smaller size, lower cost, lower part numbers, better thermal management, and high reliability.

Presently, there are 20 Principal Plus members in the CPES industrial consortium. As the highest grade members, these companies also enjoy, at no additional cost, non-exclusive, royalty-free rights to technologies generated under the CPES core research program.
