The Foundation pursues objectives for the benefit of the public in scientific work; in particular, the preparation, consolidation and development of scientific findings in the field of engineering and economics. In the field of engineering, the emphasis is on the promotion of fundamental as well as applied research work, particularly in the area of drive technology and the control of production processes, including the use of electronics. The award is made biannually and includes a Prize in the amount of EUR 100,000.00. Of the 11 former award recipients, only one other is in the United States.
- Fred Lee (VT) and Elizabeth Tranter (VT) were awarded an NSF REU grant that will support summer study at VT for 12 students from 2005-2007. This grant contains an award to support CPES REU activities for 6 additional students at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (UPRM) from 2005-2007. UPRM activities will be directed by Dr. Carlos Cuadros.
