Leila Parsa was born in Tehran, Iran. She got her B.Sc in 1996, and M.Sc with highest honor in 1999 from Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran both in Electrical Engineering. She spent one year in Aachen University of Technology, Aachen, Germany before starting her PhD in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX. Leila Parsa received her Ph.D degree from Texas A&M University in May 2005. Currently she is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. She received the IEEE-IAS Outstanding Young Member Award in 2007 and IEEE-IAS Transactions Paper Award (Third prize) in 2006. Her research interests are in power electronics, renewable energy systems, adjustable speed drives, and electromechanical energy conversion.
