Manuel Jiménez received the B.Sc. degree in electromechanical engineering from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in 1986, the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, PR (UPRM) in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University, in East Lansing, MI in 1999.
Dr. Jiménez is currently a faculty member in the ECE department of the UPRM. His current research interests include physical design automation of electronic systems, behavioral modeling of mixed-signal systems, embedded systems design, rapid systems prototyping, and engineering education. Dr. Jiménez has been the leader of several industry sponsored projects with companies such as Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin, and IBM, and a collaborator in several NSF grants such as WALSAIP, PRECISE, and CPES. His publication record includes over sixty articles in journals, peer reviewed conferences, and workshops. He was general co-chair of the 49th IEEE International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems held in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2006 and a technical program member or reviewer for conferences such as ICCD, ITHET, and FIE. He has been a panelist for the National Science Foundation in the area of electronics for multiple programs including SBIR/STTR, CISE, Photonics, and HBCU. He is a member of the IEEE/CAS and ASEE.
