Dr. Jahns is a Grainger Professor of Power Electronics and Electric Machines at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an Associate Director of the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC). His research interests include permanent magnet synchronous machines, electric propulsion drive systems, and power electronics integration technology. He earned a PhD in 1978 from MIT and worked 15 years at GE Corporate R&D (now GE Global Research Center) before joining the UW faculty in 1998.
