Abdollah Homaifar received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1979 and 1980, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Alabama in 1987, all in electrical engineering. He is currently the Duke Energy Eminent professor in the ECE Department at NC A&T, where he is both director of the Autonomous Control and Information Technology (ACIT) center and the Campus Director of CPES. His research interests include machine learning, optimization, adaptive control, optimal control, signal processing, and soft computing and modeling. He has authored or co-authored over 180 articles in journals and conference proceedings, one book, and three chapters of a book. He currently serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing, and is a reviewer for IEEE Trans. on Fuzzy Systems, IEEE Trans. on Man Machines & Cybernetics, and IEEE Trans. on Neural Networks. He is a member of the IEEE Control Society, Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi, and Eta Kapa Nu.
